About
Jessica Shasha is a classically trained naturalist and botanical artist. Her contemporary florals capture the character and uniqueness of each bloom. Fascinated by the language of flowers and the lessons to be learned and retained by nature, in this increasingly technologically driven world, Shasha invites the viewer to pause and think about our limited natural resources through metaphor and beauty.
Her paintings are rooted in classical representation, however her work deviates from pure realism to create a fanciful and surreal visual narrative informed not only by her experiences, but also by the mutation of memory. Shasha focuses on the changing nature of light as it plays across a subject.
Shasha has been working for over 15 years and her paintings have been exhibited in galleries and collected worldwide. Her pieces can be found in private collections in Europe, South America and the United States.
"My work embodies a moment that has left and indelible mark on my memory.
A moment so powerful that I must attempt to capture and translate it, so as,
to give voice to beauty."
